During the special one hour Grammy Nominations Concert Live on CBS from Club Nokia it was announced Kanye West, The Black Eyed Peas, and Maxwell all earned themselves 6 Grammy nominations. The special was hosted by
"The nominations this year truly reflect the talented community of music makers who represent some of the highest levels of excellence in their respective fields," said Neil Portnow, President and CEO of The Recording Academy.
"Once again, the Grammy Awards process has yielded a well-rounded and diverse group of impressive nominees across multiple genres. Coupled with the second year of our primetime nominations special, which featured stellar performances by past Grammy winners and nominees, the road to Music's Biggest Night and the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in January is off to an exciting start."
The Black Eyed Peas album, The E.N.D, is up for Album Of The Year. The group was also nominated for Record Of The Year, Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Dance Recording.
Kanye West was nominated for Best Rap/Song Collaboration for the song Ego with Beyonce. Also Kanye, Jay-Z, and Rihanna are up for multiple nominations for their hit record Run This Town.
Artists such as Eminem, Flo Rida, Q-Tip, Mos Def, Common, T.I. and Drake are all up for Hip-Hop nominations as well.
