Fat Joe Financial Records Revealed
Following in the path already well traveled by several other rappers, New York rhymespitter Fat Joe has found himself in trouble with the IRS.
Joey’s tax problems, which date back to 2008, leaked online earlier this week and seemingly contradict the rapper’s recent claims that he isn’t having any money problems.
According to the Detroit News, in August of 2008 the state of New Jersey filed a $105,000 tax lien against Joe and Terror Squad with the New Jersey State Superior Court. The IRS then filed another lien against him with the Mercer County (N.J.) clerk, totaling $31,987 on February 2nd of this year and in March they filed a $2,200 lien against Joey and Terror Squad Productions Inc. Collectively the three liens come to a total of $139,000 worth of delinquent state and federal taxes.
SunTrust Bank also filed a lawsuit against Fat Joe in Florida’s Broward County Circuit Court over a four-year-old $250,000 mortgage that he took out on the property he owned in Plantation, Fla . The bank was awarded a default judgment against him on April 27th of this year for $71,611.
“I’m selling my home like everyone else in the world,” said Joe while explaining his decision to sale his Plantation, Florida home.
He also went to say that the sell wasn’t motivated by money woes, but instead he was simply moving because his wife wanted to be closer to the water. “Yea you know my wife she wants to move back towards the beach, we out a little west in the suburbs, so you know. You know, a man just trying to live, just trying to survive man.”
