Mayweather in Casino Standoff with Rap Star

It all went down at the grand opening of Vanity nightclub in the Hard Rock Hotel -- which was hosted by Diddy. We're told Floyd Mayweather rolled over to the party to see Diddy, when he literally ran into rapper Rick Ross.

Sources tell TMZ one of the men "bumped" into the other man and their entourages immediately became "confrontational."

But as things started to heat up, we're told Diddy swooped in between the guys and calmed everyone down.

We called Mayweather's camp for comment and his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., told us there's been beef between Floyd and Ross for a while because Ross has allegedly been, "talking s**t."

We're told both Mayweather Jr. and Ross eventually went back in the club and partied the rest of the night away without incident.

Calls to Rick Ross were not returned. No comment from Camp Diddy.
Floyd Mayweather was ready to rumble with a famous nemesis in Vegas this weekend -- but just before a fight broke out, Diddy saved the day.

Hip-Hop artist Canibus is returning with a new album titled Melatonin Magik, a new independent album that is being released on Warlab records. The album features guest appearances by Kool G. Rap, Chino XL and newcomer DZK, who was featured on Canibus’ diss track to Eminem titled “Air Strike (Pop Killer).” Melatonin Magik was delayed several times, but now has an official release date of February 9.

Alfamega's Son and Daughter Attacked Inside T.I.'s Club

Rumors of former Grand Hustle associate Alfamega's son and daughter being involved in an incident at T.I.'s Atlanta nightspot, Club Crucial, hit the internet yesterday (January 4), and last night the rapper talked to AllHipHop and confirmed the news.



"I had a talk with Tip's uncle Derrick, who co-owns Club Crucial," said Alfamega. "I was like, 'My daughter got stabbed up there dog and my son got his jaw fractured.' He was like, 'Huh? I didn't know that.' They didn't know, the people they got into it with didn't know they were my children. I was told my children wasn't in the wrong. The girls and the dudes attacked her and stabbed her and basically my son jumped in because they were attacking his sister and somebody hit him from the blindside."



The incident occurred on Christmas Eve (December 24), and left Alfa's daughter, who was been released from the hospital, with three stab wounds and a collapsed lung. His son had several bruises as well as a broken jaw.



As far as retaliation over the incident, Alfa says he isn't looking for street justice. "I straight up told the dudes there wouldn't be any street retaliation behind it, even though there might be others that don't feel the same way I do, that surround me," said the rapper whose real name is Cedric Zellars.



"And at the end of the day, it's all about what I want to do. And I don't want no street retaliation of violence. It's a new year. And all in a nutshell, they didn't know. I would look at it different if they knew they was my children. And I don't wish that upon nobodies' children."

Raekwon To Release Two Albums This Year

On Saturday (December 2), Raekwon announced via Twitter that he will release two solo albums this year.



"O I forgot my announcement on Jan 1st so ima tell ya now!" tweeted Rae. "'I WILL BE DROPPIN 2 ALBUMS THIS YEAR!' Rt this crack..."



Also coming this year will be his collaboration album with Wu-Tang members Method Man and Ghostface Killah.



"I spoke to Method Man and he's telling me by the middle of February the album should be already solidified," said Raekwon to HipHopDX regarding the Def Jam release.



"So, that's what I'm hoping [is] gonna happen. We'll see what Def Jam [will] do. I'm just coming in as a piece of the board just to really go in and do what I gotta do. But we gon' see how they handle the business with that album...We still got more things that we gonna do. We ain't never wrapped. We gon' definitely make sure that we really give y'all a tight album, and [make sure that] everybody's opinions and criticisms account for this record."



On September 8 of last year, The Chef released Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, the sequel to his classic debut album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. The album debuted at # 4 on the Billboard 200 and has sold more than 130,000 copies thus far.

While shooting the video for Dirty Money's Angel remix featuring Rick Ross , Diddy compared the southern rapper's rhyming skills to that of the late great, Biggie Smalls.

"Oh y'all ain't hear the second verse," said Diddy to SpliffTV about Ross' contribution.

"Yo, y'all gonna peep that when we world premiere that. I don't know, I guess him and Biggie locked up in the room, my man Hen Roc even said that. For my man Hen Roc to say that and co-sign it like 'Yo, my man right there sounding like our homie.' That right there was something special. That's a mean co-sign, that's a mean co-sign. I don't know what was going on in the studio, the spirits were connecting but it's official, you know what I'm saying? It ain't bootleg...it ain't got no preservatives in it."

Rick Ross' fourth solo studio album, Teflon Don, is expected to be released in the spring, and he also has an upcoming project with Cash Money's Baby that will be released in 2010. The two have reportedly completed their album titled, The H, and are now working on filming a movie that will accompany the disc. Diddy's fifth solo album, Last Train to Paris, which does not currently have a release date, is expected sometime in 2010 via Interscope.

Lil Wayne To Channel Jesus For Cartoon Network

According to reports, soon to be incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne will play the role of Jesus Christ in an upcoming cartoon that will feature rapper T-Pain.

Julia Beverly from Ozone Magazine recently revealed additional details on the show when clips of it were shown at T-Pain's Christmas Party that took place on December 23rd .

"Some Cartoon Network/Adult Swim execs came through to display clips from Pain's upcoming cartoon special Freaknik, which airs on March 21," wrote Beverly. "In it, Lil Wayne provides the voice for Jesus Christ (I'm not kidding) and performs a music video for Ghetto Commandments."

The cartoon was in the planning stages in Fall 2008, when Complex magazine had an interview with Adult Swin Creative Director, Jake Escobedo. "Basically it was a Black Spring Break that went down in Atlanta and got shut down back in '98 or '99," said Escobedo regarding Freaknik, the show's inspiration.

"So the show is going to resurrect that, and it's going to be starring T-Pain and Lil Wayne and all these other artists like David Banner and some other dudes. It's all drawn, and T-Pain plays the ghost of Spring Break, the spirit of Freaknik. He brings this party back to Atlanta and the artists have done all this music for it, and its amazing."

BREAKING NEWS: Producer Shawty Redd Turns Himself in for Murder

Redd, real name Demetrius Stewart, was in his home with another unidentified individual on the early hours of New Year’s Day. At some point, the two became embroiled in an argument, and the unidentified male allegedly threatened the producer.

Redd then obtained his firearm and killed the man.

Following the shooting, Shawty Redd contacted authorities and turned himself over to Henry County Police.

At press time, no bond has been issued and Redd is awaiting arraignment today (January 2).

Though still working to complete his highly anticipated debut album, Thank Me Later, Drake recently confirmed that he has finished Light Up, the much talked about song that features both him and rapper Jay-Z.

"When I heard that beat, the drums that they had come up with, it was like, 'Man, this is a moment,'" said Drake of the Tone Mason produced song. "This sounds like where I'm at in my life. So, we took it and 40 [Noah Shebib] did what he does to music I see potential in - he took it to the next spot. Jay-Z's on it. The song is phenomenal. It's done now."

Drake and Jay-Z first collaborated together on Off That from Jay's latest album, The Blueprint 3, but the Timbaland-produced track only featured the Canadian rapper on the chorus. On this song however, both artists will have a full verse.

The Young Money rapper is hoping to turn his debut album into a unique coming-of-age story that will satisfy his fans. "It's just really trying to tell the greatest story that's never been told, which is the story of a rapper's come-up, and tell it without being corny or over-bragging or sound like, 'Feel sorry for me.' It's going to be interesting because I'm really going to have to dig deep and tell stories that people can relate to," promised Drake.

Female Rappers Teaming Up Against Nicki Minaj

It seems as if every female rapper is teaming up against Nicki Minaj claiming that her style is simple, disrespectful, or isn't worthy of being taken serious.

Chicago rapper Kid Sister is known for her hit single Pro Nails with Kanye West and she doesn't have as much buzz as Nicki Minaj but even goes as far as questioning if people even take Nicki serious?

"I think Nicki Minaj is awesome, she has a cute little look but my thing is, do people take her seriously? I'm not being funny. I'm just asking a question. That whole thing like, 'I want more cheese, lots and lots of cheese' -- do people make fun of her? Do I have it harder? No, I think I have it easier, harder in the sense that maybe the pop world doesn't know how to interpret me, but easier in the sense that I know my music comes from me and it's a clear and perfect projection of everything I am. It's not only because I have control, but it's because that's the only music that can comfort me. I don't know how to be anyone else. I can only really speak to myself and my own experiences, so if that means I'm talking about playing some dude bogus or f*cking it up at a party, that's literally the life that I live."

Aside from Kid Sister, Brooklyn rapper Lil Mama stated that she believes Nicki Minaj has talent as a lyricist but she doesn't agree with the image she portrays for women.

"Nicki Minaj is a talented rapper, she's out there, she's doing her. What she represents, I don't represent and she's doing something different, that's her lane. As the voice of the young people, Lil Mama, I focus on bringing up young girls to respect their bodies, respect theyself, do it up."

Also rapper Lola Monroe has voiced her opinion on Nicki Minaj stating she isn't original and is jacking styles from previous rap artist.

"I don't do the Barbie thing -- that's her thing, I really don't agree with it, that's basic. It doesn't make sense to me because first off, you're basically saying I'm jacking somebody who has never been known to have their style all throughout their career. She's never been set to have her own style. It's always been set to say she's jacking Lil Kim to Foxy Brown and now Lil Wayne. So how can I be jacking somebody or using somebody's style if they never been known to have their own style. That part never made sense. That's one. Another thing, it kind of comes from Wayne is in the foundation of my music and what I've listened to him for years and years. So you can hear his styles in my music. And you know, that's her mentor and that's somebody whom she's under and so she's known to sound like Wayne. That's all they say about her now. I believe the similarities may have come from that but besides that, I have my own style, I have my own lane. She does what she does, ya feel me?"
